Nano Beads™

Our proprietary nano structures and fabrication techniques provide us the ability to apply active ingredients to hard ceramic-like beads. Each gram of bead provide 500 square meters of surface area. When dissolved solids are flowed through the beads, the active ingredient touches every atom and adsorbs the target elements.

Nano Beads In Action

Influent containing the targeted metal ions/complexes is flowed through the Nano Beads filter media until the maximum adsorption capacity is reached which is up to 200 mg/g. Once adsorbed, a regeneration/releasing agent specific to the metal ions/complexes of interest is pumped through the filter to desorb the element/s. The beads are then ready to adsorb again

The regeneration/releasing solution is reusable to the point of solubility, concentrating the target elements.​

​We have many different Nano Beads filters available that target precious metals, rare earth elements (REE), radioactive elements, and toxic elements. In addition, we can compile bespoke Nano Beads for specific element targeting.

Operating Parameters

Elements can be extracted in a free flow environment. There are no limitations to system sizing or flow. A single pass can be configured to capture 95-100% of the targeted elements. Once the beads are full, an approximate 5 min regeneration cycle releases the adsorbed elements. The rinse solution/releasing agent is reused hundreds of times, concentrating the elements from 10,000-160,000:1.

The operating pH range is 0 to 8, depending on targeted metal ions/complexes.

Nano Beads have a surface area of 500 m^2/g per gram and a lifecycle of >6,000 cycles.

Nano Beads are designed to work with a variety of solution chemistries such as HCl, H2SO4, HNO3, or H3PO4. ​​

Up to 12% Solids @ 75 Microns in Size

Due to the 2-4mm spherical shape of the Nano Beads filter media, there is a low-pressure loss through the Nano Beads. And unlike many comparable systems, there is no swelling or regeneration step needed. The Nano Beads can handle a solution up to 12% solids at 75 microns without clogging up or fouling.
