Nano Beads are a functionalized sorbent material developed to overcome the wasteful and toxic generating processes of ion exchange resins, solvent extraction, and membranes. Nano Beads selectively recover and elute targeted ions and molecules without the need for precipitation, heat, pressure, ponds, waste and large volumes of water.
Our proprietary nano structures and fabrication techniques provide us the ability to apply active ingredients to our proprietary hard ceramic-like beads. Each gram of bead provide 500 square meters of surface area. When dissolved solids are flowed through the beads, the active ingredient touches every atom and adsorbs the target elements.

Our nanotechnology-based filtration media, Nano Beads™, represents a leap forward in liquids filtration, environmental sustainability and efficiency, particularly in water treatment through benefits like zero liquid discharge (ZLD).
We use our proprietary nanostructures and fabrication techniques to achieve a 2-4mm nano bead that eliminates most clogging, doesn't require heat or pressure, and thereby significantly reduces cost, energy consumption and carbon footprint.
The innovative in-column regeneration cleans the media in situ, concentrating the target elements, and minimizes waste.
What sets our nanotechnology-based filtration media apart is its ability to operate with extremely short hydraulic residence times, typically between 1-4 minutes, which allows for rapid processing of large volumes of solution.
These capabilities coupled with linear expandability, means that as demand grows, the filtration capacity can be easily scaled up without operational complexity.
Unmatched Sorbent Efficiency
Fast: Solutions free flow through the filtration media. Most applications capture the target element/s with a one minute hydraulic resident time (HRT).
Concentrates: Once the filtration media is full, a five minute, in situ, regeneration cycle is performed. The regeneration solution collects the target minerals off the filter media. This regeneration solution is reused and concentrates the target element/s.
Accuracy: Removal of elements to the parts-per-billion, below ICP readings.
Solution Input: Less than <1 ppm to >100,000 ppm
Robust: pH of 0-9, nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acids do no harm to the media.
Ion adsorption or Transaction Exchange Operating Modes: Our next-generation filtration media leverages advanced materials and innovative design for unparalleled functionality in adsorption or exchange modes depending on the application.
No water: The regeneration solution is the equivalent of two bed volumes. It is reused over and over, concentrating the target elements.
No Swelling: The media is so hard you can hit it with a hammer. It does not swell.
No Pressure: There is no pressure needed. Solutions free flow through the media.
Organics: Organics do not affect the filter media.
Solids: The filter media is 2-4 mm in size providing a 40% void space. The media can handle up to 12% solids at 75 microns in size without clogging. If there is a clog, a simple backwash can remove the clog.
Durability: The media lasts >6,000 cycles depending on your application.
Recyclable: When the beads need replacement, Precision Periodic will provide new beads and recycle the old beads, applying fresh active ingredient.

Due to the 2-4mm spherical shape of the Nano Beads filter media, there is a low-pressure loss through the Nano Beads. And unlike other media (resins), there is no swelling or regeneration step needed. The Nano Beads can handle a solution up to 12% solids at 75 microns without clogging up or fouling.
